Banjo Paterson (an early member of the Sydney Rowing Club) in the short story,
Song of the Pen, wrote:
“an orgy of sculling as never was seen in the world before and it all began in earnest when Ned was challenged by Rush for his newly won honours. The water and banks of the Parramatta River became alive with the enthusiasm of crowds urging on competitors in countless sculling events which continued long after Ned finished his competitive sculling”.
Ned Trickett was inducted into the Sport Australia ‘Hall of Fame’ on
10th December, 1985
